Video Game Release Manager

A Video Game Release Manager oversees the development, testing, and (of course) release of video games. Video Game Release Managers combine their knowledge of gaming with their knowledge of business to give their company’s new product the best possible platform for sales.

If you’re a Video Game Release Manager, you work as the game’s facilitator and liaison between the businesses that will distribute the game, and the Game Developers trying to complete the game on the distribution schedule. You’ll also help to troubleshoot for the actual game system – not at the level of creating new code, but on an aesthetic level, and as a voice for corporate, making sure everything that had been expected was achieved.

Both of these tasks require you to work as a coordinator and Manager. As the game’s release approaches you deal with last minute scrambles, defects, requests from distributors, and packaging problems. And you’ll get to play the games, making your eyes one of the first pairs to see this year’s phenomenon.
