Treasury Specialists work with a company’s liquidity, or ability to turn investments into cash. A Treasury Specialist’s job entails monitoring the purchase and sale of investments, evaluating financial records, and making recommendations on ways the company can save money towards their financial goals.

Investments are one area of focus for you as a Treasury Specialist, and they are an important one. Most companies must make investments to reduce taxes and return a profit through interest income or resale. Common investments include stocks and bonds, real estate, and mergers or acquisitions. You monitor these transactions, keep records, and make recommendations.

You also provide financial analysis for management. There are many components of a business that benefit from this process. For example, you might find that providing payroll checks semi-monthly or using a different shipping company saves the company money. In this way, you analyze each component of the company, such as manufacturing philosophies, budget planning, trade procedures, banking fees, or work flows.

On a day-to-day scale, you help Accountants and other Money Managers file documents for the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS). You help with month-end and year-end paperwork, as well as record banking transactions on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You generate financial reports and facilitate banking wires. You may also monitor payment schedules for loans, investments, or customer debts.
