Substitute Teacher

Perfect for the adventurous soul who loves spreading knowledge but also thinks variety is the spice of life, the job of a Substitute Teacher is to fill in when other Teachers are away on leave or call in sick.

Your job duties as a Substitute Teacher mimic those of a regular Teacher. You instruct students, maintain order, and assign homework. But instead of working with the same class year round, you often spend only a single day with one particular class. Then it’s on to a new class the next day.

In most cases, you fill in while a Teacher is out sick for a day or two. You read over the Teacher’s lesson plans and follow their schedule as closely as possible. This includes giving out tests, collecting homework, and teaching the week’s lesson just as the Teacher would.

In other cases, a Teacher may need to leave for a portion of the school year. You step in and take over the class for weeks or months at a time while they’re gone. This involves talking with the Teacher to create lesson plans and schedule tests so students don’t fall behind.

School days march on even when a Teacher is out with a case of the sniffles, and you’re the person who keeps the metaphorical ball of education rolling during their absence.
