The primary duties of a Sheet Metal Worker include installing and repairing anything that uses sheet metal, such as heating and air conditioning ducts, roofing, siding, stainless steel kitchen appliances and equipment, and gutters. You may operate fabricating machines to manipulate the sheet metal, shape it using specific equipment, or inspect and smooth seams where two pieces of sheet metal have been welded together.

This job involves much more than just manual labor, however. Mathematical skills in the areas of algebra, geometry, and statistics, as well as knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in creating blueprints and models are extremely helpful.
