Science Professor

Most people’s corporate uniform consists of a shirt and tie with slacks, or a blouse with a blazer and a skirt. If you find coordinating your belt, shoes, shirt, and tie stressful, however, you might want to consider a job with a simpler dress code — like a lab coat.

When you’re a Science Professor, that’s what you wear to work most days, which is a good thing because you need to save your brain power for problems far more perplexing — and far more important — than “Solids or stripes?” After all, you’re both a Scientist and a Professor, which are two of the world’s most intelligent professions.

As a Science Professor, you teach college-level classes about scientific subjects, such as biology, astronomy, geology, chemistry, and physics. A Teacher for a college or university, you develop lesson plans, create curriculums, give lectures, assign homework, counsel students, and give and grade exams.

As a Scientist, on the other hand, you do research and conduct experiments in your field of study. For instance, you might study new cures for diseases if you’re a Biologist, or chemical reactions if you’re a Chemist. Regardless, you make hypotheses, then test them in laboratories, sharing your results in scholarly journals and at scientific conferences.

Scientists like Leonardo da Vinci and Benjamin Franklin used to make their discoveries in homemade laboratories. Today, however, many of the most exciting scientific discoveries are made on college campuses. As a Science Professor, therefore, you’re on the cutting edge of science, able to simultaneously teach, practice, and witness it!
