RV Technician

A recreational vehicle, or RV, is meant to be many things at the same time. It’s a car, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom. Each of these functions comes with its own particular set of equipment, and all of that equipment can break.

Your job as an RV Technician is to fix any broken RV equipment. This makes you a master of many different types of repair jobs.

When a client brings an RV to your shop, you interview them. You find out what problems they’re having with the RV, and how long those problems have been happening. Then you do a thorough inspection of the RV, detailing all the issues you see.

RV Technicians consult a pricing book to determine how much each repair will cost, then give this estimate to the client, with an explanation of the problems that were found. While you may be eager to get to work, you may need to spend a significant amount of time explaining why the repairs are needed.

Once the cost is approved, you start making repairs. A RV Technician may recondition electrical systems, fix leaking pipes, patch holes in the ceiling, or replace leaking windows. At the end of your repair job, you perform a thorough inspection to make sure the RV is working properly once more. You must know how to drive an RV so you don’t cause more damage during your test drive.
