A Recruiting Coordinator sells a company to potential employees. In this position, you are your company’s number one fan, biggest cheerleader, and strongest ally. You are key to your company’s successful growth, as you seek out, win over, and hire the most talented employees.
As a Recruiting Coordinator you spend a lot of time talking up the company. You head to job fairs, where you meet many applicants and tell them why your company is pretty awesome. Recruiting Coordinators also cold-call leaders in the field, extending generous offers and convincing executives at other companies why they should switch jobs and come over to the good side.
On a day-to-day level, you post job openings on job boards, and manage the flood of paperwork and calls that come back in response to your postings. You must be extremely detail-oriented so you can keep track of everything that comes in, and everything that must be done in response.
When people do apply for positions, you interview them. You administer personality or job skills tests, and perform background checks.
If you end up loving candidates as much as you hoped you would, you draw up offer letters. Otherwise, you send them kind rejection letters. You keep a strict accounting of people so you’ll be sure not to interview the same person multiple times.
To know what you can and cannot say during the recruitment process, you need to keep up with human resource laws in your area. You also expand your knowledge about your own company and the products it offers, so you can speak convincingly to potential employees about how great it is.
