Internet Reputation Manager
Keep companies safe from negative publicity in the Internet.
Remember that rumor in high school about your 10th grade English Teacher being a witch? If you’re a Promotions Coordinator, you didn’t just hear it. You probably started it. That’s because Promotions Coordinators are the gossip queens of the public relations world. They can’t keep secrets and — much to the disappointment of Mrs. Bookman, who had to live with the nickname “Broomstick Bookman” — they’re rewarded for it.
Indeed, as a Promotions Coordinator, it’s your job to spread the word. In advertising, the goal is getting people to buy. In PR, it’s getting people to talk. In promotions, it’s both: When your company has a new product or service, you get people to talk about buying it.
To do that, you’ll spend your days analyzing trends and researching your competitors to find out what people want and how you can give it to them. Then you’ll collaborate with your company’s advertising, marketing, public relations and sales teams to design conversation-worthy promotions that will get customers talking. You might design contests, sweepstakes and giveaways, for instance, or you might develop coupons, sponsorships and loyalty programs. Sometimes, you might even write sales letters and press releases, or design booths for your company’s trade show exhibits.
Always, however, your job is to publicize your company in the best possible light. Although your history as a gossipmonger will serve you well, therefore, so will honesty and integrity. After all, when your product and promotion are good, the conversation — and compensation! — will be, too.
