Political Organizer

In a perfect world, a Politician would listen to the people and work tirelessly toward the people’s goals. In reality, this doesn’t always happen. Some Politicians simply need a big shove in the right direction.

A Political Organizer provides that shove. Political Organizers unify people around a common goal, and then work within the political system to make that goal a reality. If you’re a Political Organizer, you may fight for children’s education, housing equality, union rights, or health care affordability. You may be hired by a large, vocal group, or a small, timid group that needs to boost membership.

You attend meetings with the group members, trying to determine their goals. In those meeting, you listen, take pages and pages of notes, and then summarize your notes into concrete action steps. You then go to other meetings in the community, promoting your organization and its plan, and even recruiting members.

You also meet with elected officials as often as you can, using every trick in your bag to persuade them to do what you want. You may write letters outlining how they should vote on specific bills, donate money to officials who vote the way you want them to, and run attack ads during election time if they dare to disobey you.

You have great power in this position, but you’re also under an intense amount of scrutiny. Your organization demands that you get results if you want to keep your job. The more a Politician goes along with you, the more secure your job will be.
