Poker Prop Player

Being paid to play poker…that is the life of a Poker Prop Player. Working for casinos (either brick-and-mortar or online), you fill a seat at the table and keep the action rolling. The company knows poker players like full tables, and that’s where you come in.

You use your own money to play, but the house pays you a regular rate. Understanding the different types of poker—like Texas Holdem, Omaha, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Draw, and Caribbean Stud—is essential, as the house will expect you to play all of them. Play is required for a certain amount of time per day or week. The time dedicated to your job gives you the opportunity to perfect your skills at each game.

Critical and strategic thinking are required to be proficient as a Poker Prop Player. Also, you are expected to treat all other players with respect, and to keep an even temper. As a Poker Prop Player, you are a representative of the company (even though the other players do not recognize you as such), so you should always have a positive attitude about the game and the organization. Even if you lose sometimes (and you should expect to, as the games are not tipped in your favor), you’re a paid worker, and a profit at the end of the pay period should be waiting for you.
