Outreach Coordinator

An Outreach Coordinator is like a Spokesperson for an organization looking to connect with people in the larger community. Typically found in organizations that provide education, opportunities, or assistance to individuals in need, Outreach Coordinators act as the link between the organization and the people it aims to assist.

The position of Outreach Coordinator is an influential one because on one side, you have an organization with the power to provide aid or services, and on the other, you have an individual with needs that have to be supported. You bring the two together in a way that’s beneficial to both parties.

You’re the main point of contact for members of the community, performing assessments to determine what kind of help they need, and informing and educating them about your organization’s programs. You also create, schedule, organize, and promote outreach activities and special events. Additionally, you may be responsible for recruiting volunteers, training them, and giving them assignments.

While a lot of your activities revolve around serving community members, your loyalty of course lies with the organization you work for. You create awareness about your company, and promote its presence to the community through marketing and advertising. You also initiate and develop key relationships between individuals or groups in the community and your organization.

To do all this, you need strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work with a wide range of individuals, and a flair for organization.
