Nuclear Radiologist

One of the really great things about the modern medical world is its ability to see the patient from the inside out. Physicians used to only be able to diagnose certain ailments and diseases through an educated guess or a trip to the Surgeon for an open-cavity view. But, modern medicine uses small amounts of radiation particles to create an image of what’s going on inside the body, sans the scalpel. Nuclear Radiologists are Doctors who interpret what the test results say and mean.

As a Nuclear Radiologist, you hold the magic eight ball. Even Medical Doctors often can’t figure out what the report from the Radiology Technician means. So they ask you. You’re the person to ask because you can distinguish a swollen gland from a tumor, and identify if a patient has bone cancer.

The tests that Nuclear Radiologists run are noninvasive. The patient is injected with, swallows, or inhales a radioactive agent. That agent then settles within the body, and a special camera takes pictures of the area.

These relatively simple tests allow you to diagnose cancers in organs, bones, lymph nodes, and all other parts of the body. This technology helps you identify cancer in its early stages, allowing for more effective treatments. In addition to cancer, you also diagnose problems within the kidneys, urinary tract, throat, heart, lungs, bones, and brain.
