The Marketing Manager is chief of the overall marketing efforts of a business. This means the Marketing Manager monitors subordinate staff, help develop advertising, and keep on top of marketing trends. Your goal is to connect a business with its customers.

The long-term goals of your company may be to increase customer base, introduce new products, or boost revenue. Regardless of the goal, you need to consider the company’s budget and image while you implement and oversee the marketing plan. Competition for your customers is fierce and your job is make sure they choose your company over the rival. So, Marketing Managers find ways to get the most bang for your buck—to reach the most customers for the fewest dollars.

While you delegate many of the day-to-day marketing responsibilities to the Marketing Coordinator, you spend your day making sure the overall marketing plan is humming at its most productive level. You review customer surveys and evaluate profit reports to decide what is working and what is not. What are people buying? What do they like or dislike? What is their opinion about your product or service? Did the last sample group hate the commercial preview? If so, your job is to make sure that commercial is cut and a more effective one put in its place.
