Green marketing is a relatively new industry. It started when “green” products (that is, products considered environmentally safe) became popular. You can be considered a Green Marketer in one of two ways. The first is if you market only green products. And the second is if you market products, whether green or not, in an environmentally friendly way.

Green products are everywhere these days. Everything from cars to shoes to clothes can be considered green. They’re better for the environment because of the way they’re produced or the way they can be recycled. However, they also usually cost more. Although many consumers see the purpose of buying green, they still don’t buy because they have a difficult time paying more for a product when there’s a cheaper option available.

A Green Marketer uses different techniques like print or TV ads, personalized mailings, and coupons to encourage people to make the switch to green products. As a Green Marketer, you focus on the good impact they have on the environment, and explain why that’s worth the higher price.

Another way to do green marketing is to sell any type of product, but make sure you do so in environmentally friendly ways. This means doing things like e-mailing, rather than mailing, coupons; keeping up-to-date listings of your customers so you’re not sending out junk mail to people who might no longer exist; and keeping your printing (of posters, flyers, etc.) to a minimum.
