Farm Manager

Growing crops or raising animals is hard work, and it can take up all of a person’s time. When a Farmer has more to do than they can handle, they hire a Farm Manager to help out. As a Farm Manager, you can find employment in a lot of places—with corporations, churches that own farmland, even with retired Farmers and widows. In other words, you can work for anyone who has land that they can’t or don’t want to farm alone.

Just like any Manager, your job as a Farm Manager is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business you work for. Unlike other Managers though, you might spend your day planting crops, breeding animals, or fixing fences. The specifics of your job will vary depending on the size of the farm you work for. If you work for a small operation, you could be in charge of everything, from harvesting all the way to advertising. If you’re on a big farm, especially corporate ones, you usually focus on one area, like farm paperwork or the spraying of crops.

You should approach this job like a full-fledged Farmer, because in many ways you are. Although technically, you work for the Farm Owner, you make major decisions and handle pretty much all the day-to-day stuff. You plan out when and what to plant, hire workers for harvesting, repair farm equipment or fences, apply for bank loans for needed supplies, pay bills, plan the farm’s marketing strategies, and do anything else that needs to get done.
