As an Environment Friendly Landscape Designer, you know extremely well that being green can start in people’s own backyards, which means you bring your green thumb to the masses. You’re a supporter of natural ecosystems in people’s yards, and you make it possible for them to be green on a daily basis.

Your typical workday as an Environment Friendly Landscape Designer is very similar to that of a normal Landscape Designer. You start by meeting with your client to get an idea of what they’re after. You also assess the space that you’ll be working with, and then get started drawing up designs and plans.

The difference between you and a traditional Designer, however, is that you don’t just take the client, the space, and the climate into consideration. You also include environmentally sound practices.

For instance, when you’re drawing up those initial designs, you consider the current state of the space and its natural features, and you attempt to conserve as much of those as possible. This cuts down on fuel usage and plant waste. You also avoid the use of unnatural fertilizers, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals. You’re extra careful when it comes to water usage, and you’re mindful about creating a balance between what your customer wants and what the ecosystem needs.
