EDI stands for “electronic data interchange,” so as an EDI Systems Analyst, you’re in charge of managing that electronic data. Offices around the country need you to step into your tech nerd shoes (horn-rimmed glasses and pocket protectors not required) and fix their information problem. Every store has an inventory — items put into a giant database and identified with barcodes. EDI is what manages the inventories of giant department stores across the country, as well as small, local chains.

Using web servers and cables, you set up an exchange of data between any two computers. The skills you use to run software and set up motherboards are halfway between those of a Computer Systems Analyst and a ninja.

EDI is a complex system, but you know enough about information technology to explain your work to everyone from an intern to the company’s IT Technician to the CEO. Companies seek you out to transform their business because they know that the faster they can send information, the more efficient they can be. And higher efficiency means more money in their pockets and yours.
