Driving Instructor

In order to get a driver’s license, one must first learn how to drive. While some people learn from parents, friends, or siblings, others turn to you, the Driving Instructor. It goes without saying that you need to have patience to teach someone to drive. But, it also requires an ability to handle stress, quick reaction time, and outstanding communication skills.

This is not a job for the faint of heart. After all, you’re going to have someone who has never driven a car before act as your Chauffeur. But, you have a plan. You start small and work your way up.

Before you even hit the leather seats, you teach your student the rules of the road. This requires some classroom time. And the process is the same whether you’re training a Racecar Driver, a Semi Truck Driver, or a student driver.

Once Driving Instructors have hammered the laws of driving into their student’s head, they show them how it’s done. Driving Instructors drive and explain the process as they go. They make sure you know how to use the mirror, where the brakes are, and what those buttons on the steering wheel are for. The last thing you need is your first outing ending in an accelerator/brake mix-up. Yikes!

When you hand over the steering wheel, you observe, give directions, make suggestions, and explain road signs from the passenger’s seat. As your student progresses, you relinquish more control until he or she is ready to fly completely solo.
