Health Services Manager
Ensure great healthcare services at a hospital.
As the Director of Information Technology you oversee the overall management, strategy and execution of your organization’s IT infrastructure. This infrastructure includes both the software and hardware systems that are used by a company.
Every department in your company will have different IT needs: One needs strict security standards, another needs more server space, and a third can never figure out how to turn on their projector. A Director of Information Technology evaluates the needs of each department and determine ways to meet, and improve their business objectives by establishing better information processing systems.
Juggling these assorted IT needs may vary and prove highly complex, but for a Director of Information Technology it will be simple—above all you are an excellent troubleshooter, and have an enviable record for resolving system issues.
Your working day can be deadline-driven but rewarding when you meet the demands of a department’s systems needs. You will research, develop and assist in unit testing. Your participation in the revision of technical designs is vital as is your participation in forecasting trends, and long-term goals for your organization’s IT infrastructure. You also ensure that operations do not go over and beyond approved budget levels, and will take on the task of supervising staff in the absence of the Chief Information Officer.
This not only requires technical skills; it mandates excellent communication skills: Your organization relies heavily on your know-how, and you must be able to share that know-how and explain system solutions without bombarding the not-so-computer savvy with software jargon.
In a nutshell, you are the glue that keeps your organization’s IT infrastructure together and a contributor to the ever-changing world of technological advancements.
Flexible: You're open to change and think variety is the spice of life.
Trustworthy: You are known for your personal integrity and honesty.
Reliable: You can always be counted on to do a good job.
