Tends machine that shreds woodpulp to specified size for use as filler in producing plastics materials: Inserts mandrel through core of woodpulp roll and mounts roll on unreeling stand, using overhead hoist. Threads sheet into machine feed rolls and adjusts cutting blade, using handtools. Starts machine and observes discharge of shredded pulp into conveyor system or automatic weigh bin to ascertain conformity to specifications. Cleans dust from equipment, using airhose or brush. Records weight and number of rolls cut. May adjust braking device to prevent bulking or tearing of sheet.
