Although it would be cool to see Superman flying around, in this case, the answer is a corporate jet. As a Corporate Pilot, however—the one behind the wheel of that jet—you can imagine yourself as Superman.

Corporate Pilots are, in many ways, just like Commercial Pilots or Military Pilots. Like either of those Pilots, your job is to safely navigate a plane from one place to another, landing your passengers at their final destinations. The difference between a Corporate Pilot and other pilots lies in the type of plane you fly and who you work for. You tend to fly smaller airplanes, and work for private businesses or individuals.

It’s your job to fly business people like CEOs or international partners around the country for board meetings or investor talks. The distances you fly vary, and one day can last 13 hours while another may only last three.

Your job starts before the plane takes off. You must first file a flight plan with Air Traffic Controllers, letting them know when you’ll be leaving and where you’re heading. Then you check the plane. Safety is a huge responsibility in this job, and you make sure fuel levels are high, there are no maintenance issues, and all instruments are working as they should.

Like any Pilot, you get to see a lot of places. It’s not unusual to spend your mornings in one city and then finish your day in another.
