Construction Supervisor

The Construction Supervisor is the glue that holds a construction project together. Construction Supervisors evaluate plans, manage workers, and ensure delivery of supplies. Of course, they do all this while keeping within timeline and budget constraints.

A construction site is a pool of activity. Electricians, Plumbers, cement trucks, lumber deliveries, and Landscapers come and go, each only responsible for their portion of the job. As Construction Supervisor, on the other hand, you are in charge of each subcontractor, nail, ceiling fan, and driveway in the project. Needless to say, you need to thrive on variety, versatility, and resourcefulness. In addition, you multi-task, have strong communication skills, and enjoy working with a variety of people.

You may work as a sole proprietor or for a larger company, but either way, your responsibilities are similar. When a customer has a project in mind, you supply them with price quotes and timelines. Once approved, you make sure the supplies arrive on time. Although this might seem trivial, any delays leave crews standing around with no work, which is extremely detrimental to a budget.

In addition to the supplies, you coordinate the efforts of all the subcontractors. This oversight ensures that the Bricklayer doesn’t arrive before the Framers have completed the façade for him to work on. As the project progresses, you acquire the proper inspections, licensing, and permits to keep the project on task and on budget.
