It may not leave stains on your carpet, but make no mistake: The energy that heats homes, fuels automobiles, and powers electronic devices is dirty. So dirty, in fact, that it often pollutes air, soil, water, and — as a result — human health.

Clean Energy Policy Analysts know exactly how dirty energy can be, which is why they make their living supporting “clean” energy. That is, energy that produces little or no pollution and/or waste, including renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and even nuclear energy, all of which produce fewer greenhouse gases than traditional, nonrenewable energy sources like oil and coal.

As a Clean Energy Policy Analyst, you’re paid by government agencies, lobbying groups, and nonprofit organizations to educate local, state, and federal Politicians — including City Councilmen, Senators, and Congressmen — about clean energy issues and opportunities. When these Legislators are called upon to write or vote on laws that deal with clean energy — be it tax credits for energy companies, government funding for energy research, or new regulations that restrict the use of fossil fuels — they rely on you to give them the information they need to make informed decisions.

To that end, your days as a Clean Energy Policy Analyst are spent researching proposed clean energy laws; gathering data in support of arguments for or against them; developing advocacy campaigns and strategies; and engaging in meetings, presentations, and events designed to communicate and convince on behalf of clean energy positions.

Equal parts environmentalist and advocate, your goal as a Clean Energy Policy Analyst is getting Lawmakers to pass legislation that powers the future without destroying it!
