Home Care Aide
Provide in-home help to elderly or disabled people.
A Car or Auto Porter commonly works at an auto dealership, and is responsible for assisting around the dealership as needed. Most often, Car Porters help out the Auto Detailers, who clean and polish automobiles and ready them for sale. If you’re a Car Porter, you may also end up running errands, driving cars to other lots, swapping them with the Dealers there for something else, or giving rides to customers.
Basically, you help out where needed. On a daily basis, you will be around cars and trucks, so they should be something you’re interested in and knowledgeable about. In addition to working directly with the vehicles, Car Porters also work with the lot itself, helping to maintain the area and setting up cars to best show off the dealership’s collection. While you do that, you may also be given the responsibility of taking stock of the vehicles, and keeping a running tab of their locations and individual VIN numbers.
Finally, you work extensively in the repair shop as well, gassing up vehicles for test drives and new cars that are fresh off delivery. You also keep an eye on the available stock, making sure that tires are inflated, batteries stay charged, and windows and paint jobs are not nicked or scratched. You’ll learn the basics of the dealership industry with this job, and grow to appreciate all of the aspects that go into creating the perfect package for a car lot.
