Campgrounds can be very busy places, especially during the summer. At this time of the year, people haul their trailers, motor homes, tents, and boats to the mountains, beach, lakes, and rivers in search of a connection with nature, a separation from work and home, or an outlet for their adrenaline. Regardless of why they’re there, campers expect to find a clean and organized campground. Campground Attendants arere there to make sure that they get it.

Campground Attendants live in the campground, either for a season or year round, so they know it better than anyone else. Whether there are 13 spots or 300, if you’re a Campground Attendant you know which spaces have electrical hookups, the best view, or are large enough to accommodate a 34-foot motor home.

From your house in the woods, you make sure campers have access to firewood and ice, often selling those items outside your trailer. You also ensure that the bathroom, roads, and walkways are clean.

This job requires a lot of personal contact. You respond to reservation requests, assign camping spots, and collect funds. Because you’re familiar with the area, you are happy to share your knowledge about rafting, boat launches, restaurants, hiking, and the amenities of the campground itself. Sometimes, you have to enforce the rules, even calling in Law Enforcement Officers, if necessary.

The joy of your job comes from interacting with people on vacation; spending every day communing with nature; and providing a clean, inviting place for campers to retreat.
