Create the foundation of buildings or bridges by securing huge metal beams.
Wooden cabinets can make a great addition to a home. Not only are they beautiful, but they also have many purposes—anything from holding glasses in the kitchen to serving as storage units in the hall. And the person who makes these functional pieces of art is the Cabinet Maker.
Cabinet Makers make pieces according to their client’s specifications and needs. As Cabinet Maker, you start each job by meeting with them and discussing what they’re looking for in a cabinet. You find out things like the type of wood they want, the cabinet’s purpose, and most importantly, the dimensions of the space you’re working with. If you mess up and make the wrong sized cabinet, you’ve not only wasted your time and resources, but it will take you twice as long to give your client the finished product.
Once you have a good idea of what your client is looking for, you draw a few different designs that might work. You show your client the blueprints of your designs, they pick one that they like, and then you begin the actual building process. To create a cabinet, you connect pieces of wood using materials or tools like nails, wood glue, and clamps. You might need to stain or paint the wood a special color, or add extra accessories like carvings or handles. Once you’re done making the cabinet, you install it in your client’s house or office. You mount the cabinet, and then use tools like sandpaper or chisels to create a perfect fit against the wall.
