Do you find yourself dreaming of omelets and eggs Benedict? The job of Breakfast Cook might be for you. Your duties as Breakfast Cook range from Prep Cook, to grill master, to clean-up crew.

Prepare to rise with the chickens before cooking their eggs. As Breakfast Cook, your day generally starts around five a.m. when you will mix eggs, chop vegetables, concoct sauces, prepare fruits and partially cook breakfast meats. That is all before you open for business. Then the real fun begins. As the orders line up, you whisk, sizzle, bake, boil, fry, and sauté your way through hundreds of orders before your shift is through.

Depending on the size of the restaurant, you may cook breakfast for six hours or more after your early morning preparations. That’s a lot of standing. Other physical requirements include the ability to endure heat, noise, and pressure. If you like a fast-paced environment, you’re in the right place.

Some people love the early mornings, and stick around to become French toast connoisseurs. Others use this as a stepping stone position to become full Chefs or Executive Chefs. But whichever path you choose, while you’re behind the grill the customer is your main concern. So take pride in your work and deliver exceptional food that keeps them coming back.
