In recent years, there’s been a push to find alternative fuel sources beyond fossil fuels. Biofuels are a form of renewable energy that offers ways to decrease our reliance on coal, oil, and natural gas. Biofuels include anything made from biomass, which is any fuel from a plant source. Examples are gas from decomposing plants, naturally occurring alcohols, and vegetable oils.

Biofuels Product Managers work at a plant or processing center to create these alternative fuels. As Biofuels Product Manager, you set the plant’s production goals and yearly budget, and do all you can to make sure the goals are met and come within the projected budget.

The job of a Biofuels Product Manager is all about production. And everything you do, you do in an effort to increase the plant’s output. This means when you hire or train staff, you do so to improve one specific area of production. And when you get new equipment, you do so because the old pieces weren’t helping out with, you guessed it, production. You might change the way pieces of the product are put together, or the way parts are ordered if you decide the old way takes too long.

The numbers you work to meet come to you from your company’s sales team. They let you know the number of units sold, and when the client expects the goods. With this knowledge, you can create a plan to either increase production or keep things steady.
