Baseball Players entertain the crowd with their catching, throwing, hitting, and running. But, the reality of the job is that it requires a home run of discipline, dedication, and practice.

As a Baseball Player, you typically specialize in one position. You might catch fly balls in left field or snag that near home run hit before it topples over the fence in center field. You might also take up post on one of the bases. Or, you could showcase your individual talents as a Catcher or Pitcher.

Whatever your position, baseball is a team sport. So, you support the other Players on your team and display leadership qualities. That might mean taking a backseat when you’re injured, letting a more skilled Player take the field, or being the Cheerleader when the team morale is down.

Of course, the most important part of your job as a Baseball Player is keeping your skills in tip-top form. You run drills, listen to advice from Coaches, hit the gym, and watch videos of your games. This allows you to pinpoint mistakes and areas where you can make improvements.

Practices typically run several hours, several days a week, so be prepared to work up a sweat. When you’re not practicing or hosting on your home turf (or dirt and grass), you spend a lot of time in planes, trains, and automobiles.

Home or away, rain or shine, cold or hot, your perseverance contributes to the team, entertains the crowds, and earns you a paycheck.
