Architectural Technologist

An Architectural Technologist serves as the connection between an architectural goal and its completion. Your job is to be involved in several aspects of a building’s production to make sure that it will serve your client’s needs. If you’ve got an eye for detail and an ability to focus on the successful completion of architectural projects, then a career as an Architectural Technologist could be an excellent choice.

As an Architectural Technologist, you work side-by-side with Architectural Designers and construction management teams to ensure, first of all, that the concept of a building is functional and realistic. Then you evaluate many aspects of the construction, and based on your findings, make recommendations regarding such things as the appropriate materials and engineering processes to be used.

On a typical day, you might find yourself evaluating legal and environmental requirements for a particular project, and ensuring that the project complies with city or state guidelines. You might also check to make sure that a building is safely constructed and will stay in good condition for a long time. In other situations, you could be called upon to evaluate older buildings, and make suggestions on how to make them safer and more suitable for their intended purpose.

Your skills are much needed as planning for new buildings are underway. As an expert in architecture, you make valuable suggestions and critiques, which clients would do well not to ignore.
