An Anesthesia Technician must have extensive knowledge of all anesthesia equipment and supplies, and make sure they’re in perfect working order before and during surgery. Anesthesia Technicians are present in the operating room, assisting the other members of the anesthesia team in any way they can. The team members include the Anesthesiologist, Anesthesiologist Assistant, and Nurse Anesthetist.

As an Anesthesia Technician, your main duties are to clean, calibrate, monitor, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment. You also operate the equipment to run technical checks and cleanings. On top of that, you keep inventory, and maintain a record of all of work you do.

After surgery, you clean and sanitize all anesthesia equipment. This equipment is not only essential to most surgical procedures, but it’s also very expensive, so it must be handled with utmost care.
