Acupuncture Physicians are licensed Physicians who specialize in acupuncture treatments in addition to traditional medicine. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture involves pricking the skin with small needles to help relieve pain and other physical ailments. Acupuncture Physicians know exactly how to place the needles for comfort instead of pain. As an Acupuncture Physician, you have your patients on pins and needles — but that’s a good thing!

First-time patients stop by your office for consultations. In addition to assessing their past medical history, you learn about their current ailments. You advise them on how acupuncture can help them, and explain how treatment works.

When it’s time for treatment, you take your patient to a comfortable, quiet room where she can lie down on a table for the procedure. Your office may have a more spa-like feel to it than the traditional Doctor ’s office. You help the patient relax, and once the treatment is finished, she should feel better.

Of course, acupuncture can’t solve all problems. If your patient thinks he broke his arm, you would tell him to go to the emergency room for treatment. Surgeons may advise their patients to visit you after their surgery to help reduce swelling. Whether they need pain management or simply want to reduce stress, you help cure patients in the least invasive ways possible.
