As the Online Fundraising Manager for an organization, you are responsible for all of the web-based aspects of fundraising. That means it’s up to you to create and oversee the strategies for creating online revenue. You will either decide on or be given a funds goal to reach, and it may even be up to you to come up with a fundraising strategy. In either case, it is your responsibility to take the strategy that has been decided upon and implement it, with the help of your staff.
In this position as an Online Fundraising Manager, you work under the Fundraising Director. You may create advertising for your organization’s fundraising events, or promote the good things that your organization does in order to encourage donations. You’re in charge of email campaigns, and you create the list of people to send information to. You work closely with the Fundraising Manager and Director in order to figure out who to turn to for grants and donations, and your specific role as Online Fundraising Manager helps to make sure that every avenue of communication with donors is covered.
While your role with the organization is largely managerial, you are also in charge of some very technical aspects. Therefore, it is important that you are well versed in the technological and design aspects of your campaigns. You create the email campaigns, weigh in on the look of the site, particularly the donation areas, and also help to troubleshoot problems, all the while writing continual progress reports for the higher-ups.
