Operates engraving machine to inscribe letters on flat metal surfaces: Slides master lettering plates onto fixture according to sequence specified on work order. Adjusts gauge on arms of machine according to size of letters. Centers and clamps blank plate on machine. Moves lever that lowers diamond cutting point onto plate. Guides dummy point, that controls cut, over lettering on master plate to inscribe letters on metal.
