Finding the right career match isn’t a blind guessing game. You have many tools at your disposal to find out what really makes a person tick. On the job you might give personality and career quizzes or pass out fliers and brochures about specific jobs. You can work with high school students to help them find the right major for college, or with adults who want to make a career change.
Some days you’ll travel to schools or businesses to host a career fair and may help students get positions job shadowing. A career fair consists of a number of people who give out information on the specific jobs they do while job shadowing simply means a student spends a few days working for someone employed in their field of interest.
Once a student or client has an idea of which jobs interest her, you help them map out their educational path. This can range from picking a college major to finding certified training classes.
