Arrange a company’s computer network in the fastest possible setup.
Broadcast engineering is a subfield of electrical engineering, and the job of a Broadcast Engineer involves the set-up, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment within a broadcast facility. Sometimes a Broadcast Engineer is also responsible for troubleshooting the transmission tower and remote equipment used for broadcasting.
When you do maintenance and repair work as a Broadcast Engineer, you document what you’ve done by carefully preparing an engineering log. You deal with complex electronic- and computer-based broadcast systems, so you must be able to respond quickly to equipment failure, and possess the expertise to quickly isolate the problem and perform exacting repairs.
In addition to the technical aspect of your work, you also need knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations, because you are responsible for seeing that the station’s transmission and signal comply with F.C.C. regulations.
Other routine duties of this job include performing scheduled testing and maintenance, and providing operational assistance to others as needed. You will also be involved in post-production tasks, like audio mixing and computer editing.
