Take the task of organizing an entire wedding out of the bride’s hands.
Imagine the last event you attended. Was it a wedding or a graduation? A company-sponsored holiday party or a multi-day seminar? Whatever the function, organizing the food, lodging, entertainment, guest speakers, and music for the event requires the skills of an organized, creative, and fast-thinking coordinator.
Does that describe you? Great! Here’s what to expect from a certificate in event planning.
What can an event planning certificate do for me?
It gets you started in the event planning industry! Whether you want to become a Wedding Planner, or currently work for a large corporation and want to take over the event planning duties, a certificate gives you the skills you need to get your foot in the door.
Find a program that fits into your schedule. Earning a certificate only takes a few terms, or perhaps a bit longer if you can only squeeze in one class a semester. Look online and check with your local community college.
Becoming an Event Planner takes more than a passion for parties. But, don’t worry. Your classes will cover the topics you need to know. You’ll learn about communicating with customers and vendors, and building relationships with professionals in the industry.
Classwork will also cover the basics of creating an accurate budget, setting goals, and coordinating flurries of activity.
Once you’ve earned your certificate, you can apply for a different job, or get started in an entry-level position with a Caterer, Event Planner, Event Manager, or Event Coordinator. You can also use your certificate credits towards a degree in the field.
